WENDY MADORE

Wendy is a fiery, freckled Sagittarian who adores cats, loves traveling, thinks durian fruit is divine, and has an attitude of gratitude for having discovered Yoga. Her journey on the spiritual path began in 1992 while she was studying at the University of Toronto. She is grateful to her first teacher, whose focus in Yoga class was on imparting Yogic philosophy, primarily the teachings of Swami Sivananda.

In 2000, the Universe took her to Rishikesh, India, where she was blessed to discover Swami Vivekananda and Agama Yoga. Over the course of years, she continued her studies as opportunity allowed, and in 2007 both she and her partner, Darin, completed the Agama Teacher Training Course.

In Canada, Wendy and Darin run weekly Yoga retreat weekends and teach mid-week Agama classes at their Yoga center, Shanti Yoga Retreat (www.shantiretreat.ca), located on the picturesque Isle of Quinte in southeastern Ontario. Each winter it has been her karmic blessing to travel to Thailand for several months to both study and now also teach at Agama’s headquarters on Koh Phangan.

Wendy encourages everyone to smile, as smiles beget smiles in return as joyful reflections and always uplift the spirit at least a little bit.
