VIRGINIA ACEVEDO

Virginia, a Taurus born in Montevideo, Uruguay, has always been attracted by Mother Nature’s beauty and curious about the mysteries of the Universe and the interconnections between all living beings.

Since childhood, she wondered about the meaning of life and her mission on Earth. She began practicing Yoga from a book when she was about 12, and some years later started attending Yoga classes, trying different schools of various styles. Although she enjoyed most of the classes, she had the feeling that there was something lacking in all of them.

Her need to understand the miracle of life, and the calling to help preserve Mother Earth, led her to study Biology. But after years of studying at university she did not feel fulfilled. With only two exams left to get her first degree, she quit and decided to go deeper into Yoga. In 2006 Virginia traveled to India, hoping to find some answers to her metaphysical questions. She went to Rishikesh looking for the “real Yoga” and with aspiration to become a Yoga instructor. Only days after arriving there, through divine synchronicities, she found Agama’s Trika Yoga branch. Immediately, she had the feeling that she had found what she was looking for, that “something” that was missing from other Yoga courses. After completing the First Level Intensive, she went to Thailand to continue her studies with Agama and have the opportunity to listen to Swami Vivekananda in person. She was delighted by his spontaneity, sense of humor, and great knowledge about so many different subjects.

At the beginning of 2008 she joined the Agama Teacher Training Course. She was supposed to stay for four months that season… but ended up staying a year and a half between India and Thailand! During this time she was teaching at Agama’s branches in Dharamsala and Rishikesh, as well as at the Koh Phangan center.

Virginia feels blessed for this life-changing experience. She is grateful to all her teachers and friends at Agama who make this beautiful spiritual community possible. She is especially grateful to Mihaiela Pentiuc for the inspiring Shakti groups, Claudiu Trandafir for his heart-opening Hridaya Retreats, and of course to Swami.
