Sofia was born in Germany in 1982. Her shining Leo nature finds expression in spirituality through the eyes of love. Terms such as Stillness, cutting of the ego, and spiritual realization echoed throughout her childhood and youth, as her father was a dedicated practicing Buddhist who inspired her to pursue her own path in the search for meaning and Truth. After finishing school in her home country, Sofia set off to explore the world, hoping to find the freedom she was looking for. Although this experience was important for her growth, after some time she realized she was not going to find the peace and wisdom she was seeking through external exploration. In Thailand she discovered Agama Yoga and decided to enroll in the First Level Intensive Course. This was the beginning of her Yogic path, leading to the development of a profound inner spiritual dimension, as glimpses of the real nature of existence began to lighten up her life with new meaning. The school in Thailand was the platform for Sofia’s spiritual growth, and she still considers herself an Agama child. Her practice today is mainly dedicated to Kundalini Yoga and to Hridaya Yoga, a meditation for the revelation of the Spiritual Heart. She strongly resonates with this practice as it incorporates elements from Kashmir Shaivism, Advaita Vedanta, Sufism, and Dogzchen, and draws inspiration from the beautiful poetry of Rumi and other mystics. The deep spiritual aspiration to experience life in its fullness through the freshness of each moment and to love and serve are driving forces in her life. She began teaching the traditional Agama Yoga approach in Thailand at Agama headquarters and continued in Rishikesh, India. She also often travels to Germany and leads Yoga and massage workshops. At present she is helping with the development and running of Agama’s newest branch in Mazunte, Mexico. She follows with humbleness the saying of the great Advaita Vedanta master Nisargadatta Maharaj: “Wisdom says I am nothing, Love says I am everything. Between these two my life flows.” |
