Rainer grew up in the small Austrian town of Imst (population 7,000 at that time), surrounded by the beautiful Tyrolean mountains. He was fascinated by the paranormal from an early age; he foolishly tried to move things around by the power of his mind alone as a child. He was also very interested early on in all the different world religions, soon realizing that there is a common thread in all of them.
Having spent his youth surrounded by mountains, skiing, and snowboarding (his passion!), he pursued an education in tourism. After college, he worked in various places including France, Switzerland, Bermuda, and of course Austria. As his work was primarily seasonal, he had abundant opportunities to travel the world, which he did extensively. By early 2009, Rainer had visited 54 countries, and he is still counting ….
In 2005, he was traveling for one and a half years through Russia, Mongolia, China, Tibet, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. He came across Agama Yoga on Koh Phangan. Instead of the intended two-week visit, he stayed three months! He tried to escape once, continuing on his travels through Malaysia and Indonesia, but he quickly returned to Koh Phangan, and for another four months! He again tried to continue his travels but it was hopeless – he was hooked. He flew back to Europe to earn some more money and soon returned to Koh Phangan, where he has spent much of the last nearly four years.
Since those early days he knows where his heart belongs and he has made his home with Agama. In 2008 Rainer, a Cancerian, began teaching; in fact, teaching what he has learned at Agama is what he enjoys most! He also became the Agama Yoga general manager in March, 2009.
