LORI DOYLE

Lori, an American, grew up with inspiration from both science – encouraged by her father, who taught chemistry and physics – and spiritual dedication, instilled by her mother, who left material life to live with a spiritual community in the '70s. She earned a Bachelors degree in International Relations at the University of Wisconsin, and has since worked in the fields of publishing and hospitality.

In search of the sacred traditions and gurus of India, Lori first traveled to India in 1998, crossing the holy subcontinent with her brother. However, it was not until 2001, on her second journey there, that she came across Swami Vivekananda and the amazing teachings of Agama, in Rishikesh. She is one of those who, after encountering the school, canceled many plane tickets to spend nearly a year in India. It was also a life-changing place for her brother, who never returned from that first trip to Asia; he became a Theravedan Buddhist monk in 2002, and has been living in Thailand for the last seven years.

A longtime vegetarian and nature lover, Lori enjoys artistic design, writing, music, travel, and the studies of astrology, science, and health. She is an optimistic and happy person, very easily inspired, and a caring teacher. Five years into her Yoga studies, Lori finds herself even more devoted to Agama and its mission to revive this authentic, beautiful lineage and bring it to the modern spiritual forefront. She feels enormous gratitude to God and to Swami for revealing this Path to her, and finds inspiration in the advice of Rumi: "There is no need for suffering – God is here."

Lori, a Taurus, began teaching at Agama's Thailand center in 2005. Her favorite aspects of Yoga include Karma Yoga, the transcendent teachings of Kashmir Shaivism, the dynamic and elevating Kundalini practice, and the sublime mysteries of Tantra.
