JUSTINE BARUCH

Justine, an Aquarian from the United States, has always had a seeking spirit. Throughout high school she searched for greater depth in her life, but didn't know where to find it. The lack of a spiritual environment propelled her to explore philosophy, the outdoors, social work, farming, activism, exotic adventures, etc. Justine left the country soon after college to travel abroad and continued her search for a meaningful life… crewing on boats, collecting honey on bee farms, organizing NGOs, helping tsunami relief victims, etc. It wasn't until she did a 10-day meditation retreat that she realized her efforts to create a meaningful life were unrewarding. There was a shift from outer cultural exploration to one which sought the depths of her mind, soul, and heart, thus living life in a meaningful way. This led her to India.

She first found the teachings of Swami Vivekananda at Trika School in Rishikesh. She was captivated on the first day when the teachers spoke about what Yoga can bring to one's life: true knowledge, true happiness, and true freedom. Several months later she enrolled in the Teacher Training Course in Thailand.

Meeting Swami Vivekanada, Mihaiela, and the dedicated spiritual community of Agama has changed her life in many ways. She especially found refuge being among a group of strong spiritual women, finding - finally - teachings in which spirituality and womanhood complimented each other. Yoga has helped her to let go of the many masks that modern society conditions us to wear; this was a significant step forward toward actualizing her spiritual ideals. When she began teaching in 2006 she found an even greater depth and clarity to her spiritual practice.

Justine continues her studies and teaching almost year-round in Thailand and Rishikesh, India.
