INGRID GOUDSMIT

Ingrid, a Dutch Leo born in 1981, grew up in an open and loving environment which left her free to explore many subjects without judgment. She took a very young interest in Buddhism and shamanism and now realizes that the more she follows the spiritual path, the more she understands the deep connection between all religions, a realization that has brought her much internal peace. She also credits spiritual encouragement from her mother for leading her toward her own Self-discovery.

For most of her life, despite living in the city, Ingrid had a very strong connection with nature, feeling the presence of something much higher and refined (God) so clearly there. She studied Creative Communications at university, and has since been working in graphic design, hospitality, and cultural event organization. She has a great love and passion for music, art, and poetry, especially that of Rumi.

By "coincidence" three years ago, while seeking spiritual answers, she bumped into Agama, and after one lecture with Swami (on detachment), realized she had found a place and teacher that could bring her closer to what she was looking for. Studying Yoga introduced her to a world she had already felt existed but could never come close to explaining. So many things she had always experienced began to make sense.

She returned the following season, intending to complete the first month, and instead stayed six months, participating in the Teacher Training Course. That visit changed the rest of her life and she feels very lucky and thankful for the amazing teachings of Swami and the other teachers of Agama. Not only has she developed a deep spiritual connection with the Absolute, but she credits this system with the miraculous healing of physical "leftovers" from a big accident some years ago from which, she was told, she could never recover.

Ingrid is very happy to have the possibility to give something back through teaching, to introduce and share Yoga with others. She has taught in Australia since 2005 and began teaching in Thailand in September, 2006.

She enjoys the spiritual journey very much, even in its "difficult" times, for bringing her closer to our true essence, love, and being one. She says, "This path seems to replace all my fears with universal love."
