Harmony Hannigan

Born on 25 May, 1975, near Castellón, Spain, Harmony was educated in a spiritual, vegan family. She attended a Vedanta School in London, directed by the School of Economic Science, where her studies included the Upanishads, Indian dance, Sanskrit, meditation, and Ayurvedic nutrition. While in London, she developed a deeper interest in dance and trained at the Royal Academy of Dancing with Roger Tully, and later on at the Legat School of Classical Ballet. During this period, she also began to study Hatha Yoga.

After completing her university degree in Psychology, she made various trips to India, practicing Yoga in Rishikesh and studying Kundalini Tantra Yoga under Swami Vivekananda Saraswati. She has also studied Ayurvedic massage with Doctor Rathi and Usui Reiki levels 1 and 2 with both Prakash Adhara and Rika Saruhashi.

Since her return to Spain in 2000, she has attended Iyengar Yoga classes, courses of Satyananda Yoga and Yoga Nidra with Swami Digambarananda, and the Kundalini Yoga of Yogi Bhajan with Indra Kaur. She has done Vipassana meditation and studied Shiatsu, earning her diploma with the School of Natural Health Sciences. She trained in Thai massage with the Zen Boran school in Madrid and later Chaimonkol Massage Training (Mama Nit) and Changpuank Place Massage (Sing Chai) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

After studies in so many traditions, Harmony realized that the Yoga that fulfilled her most and which she felt compelled to teach was Agama Yoga, and she decided to return to Thailand to complete the Agama Teacher Training Course under Swami Vivekananda’s guidance. There she obtained her Agama teaching certification (International Yoga Federation) after 500-plus course hours of instruction.

She currently works as a therapist and Agama Yoga teacher in Madrid. She has organized and directed weekend intensive courses in Madrid and France, as well as summer retreats in La Breña National Park, Cadiz (Spain). She also holds Yoga classes for both pregnant women and for children and in the future hopes to offer courses to older people. In addition to her activities in Madrid, she looks forward to creating a rural Yoga project in the near future, offering Agama courses in the Gredos Mountains.

Her approach has an emphasis on developing the consciousness of mind and body with an attitude of love. When we coordinate these aspects, we develop a greater consciousness of our true self, which serves as a means of maintaining our emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
