ANDREW REECE

Andrew hails from the US East Coast, a New Jersey native. He has spent the better part of the last decade pursuing his passions: martial arts, healing practices, meditation, and snooker. Andrew's studies have taken him around the world, from the stoic megalopolis of Beijing, to the sticky swamps of Louisiana. He's happy to have settled now (for the most part) on the beautiful island of Koh Phangan, where he studies and teaches at Agama Yoga for most of the year. When not on the island, Andrew continent-hops between North America, Europe, and Asia, to maintain proper circulation.

Andrew's doorway to spirituality opened when he first lived in China, as part of a study abroad program with his alma mater, Bates College. There he met and trained with an adept of Taijiquan, who happily demonstrated for/on him the principle that mastery of one's subtle energies is far more essential to health and well-being than is physical strength or flexibility. This began a fascination with the disciplines of internal martial arts, qi gong, acupuncture, and other similar subjects. Further studies soon led to Yoga, then meditation, and gradually Andrew's propensity for smashing boards and bricks evolved into a preference for breaking through the more challenging obstacles of mind, soul, and spirit, instead.

Andrew would like to express his thanks and sincere appreciation for all of the wonderful support provided by the students, teachers, and administration of Agama Yoga. Beyond any particular set of teachings or methodologies, he feels that the true value of Agama is in the people who come to live and study here, and he is grateful to be a member of this burgeoning community of spiritual aspirants.
