AMY HENDERSON

Amy, an Aquarian from New Zealand, was blessed to be born into a conscious and spiritual family, who were practicing biodynamic farming and anthroposophy in a quiet valley on the South Island.

As she grew up, however, she felt that something was missing in her life. Thanks to her upbringing, she had a spiritual outlook on this world and her existence in it. But she didn’t yet have a practical sadhana to guide her through both the outer external adventure of this lifetime and the inner journey of discovering the true nature of her soul and deepening her relationship with the divine.

She came in contact with Yoga while at university, where one-dollar classes were offered in a basement seminar room. She enjoyed the asana practice, but it was devoid of any mention of spirituality. Mystified, she knew there must be more to it than just stretching the body.

So it was with great joy and relief that she found the Agama Yoga School on Koh Phangan in 2006. The Yoga practice was an in-depth study into all areas of spirituality. It addressed the physical, energetic, and spiritual aspects to help her begin to find out who she really was and how she could best help others in this lifetime.

Aiming to stay three weeks, she is now in her fifth year at the school and thoroughly enjoying the continued learning and growth, the supportive community, and the opportunity to teach.

She is so grateful to Swami Vivekananda for founding such an incredible spiritual institution and for giving her his blessings to deepen her practice through teaching.
