For almost a decade now, Agama karma yogis have dreamed of bringing the rare teachings of Swami Vivekananda to a wider audience, beyond the confines of the Yoga hall…. In 2009, this dream started to become real! Swami Vivekananda’s first book, Damaru Tantra, was published in April 2009. This translation and commentary of the ancient text describes the benefits of urine therapy for therapeutic as well as spiritual results. This book was released first in order to help support the Agama Yoga Healing Center, which opened in 2008 but greatly expanded in 2009. The Healing Center will continue to grow in 2010 and remains one of our top priorities. The center has thus far been operating on a donation basis, supported by the time, care, and love of many karma yogi healers. Other publications focused on some of Swami Vivekananda’s specialized teachings (such as the Art of Dying) as well as materials addressing more traditional subjects in Yoga such as Yama and Niyama, the chakras in comprehensive view, and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are in the nascent stages of production. Some of these publications are booklets which are not targeted for worldwide distribution, but will become essential references for Agama Yoga students at the school’s various branches.
