AGAMA YOGA JUNE 2011 NEWSLETTER

At the moment you are most in awe of all there is about life that you don’t understand,
you are closer to understanding it all than at any other time.
-- Jane Wagner --
Dear Agama Yogis!

We hope this newsletter reaches you happy and healthy and in full spirit of Yoga. The past few weeks have seen the island become a bit more quiet, as we entered mid-season in April. Nevertheless we had busy yoga classes, workshops and retreats and on May 23 we started our second Agama TTC of this season with a wonderful group of aspiring Yogis.

Our beloved Dr. Mihaiela Pentiuc saw a very motivated group of Shaktis in the ‘Complete Femininity’ workshop and Swami Vivekananda Saraswati guided the Viras personally in their ‘Vira Training’.

After three long and intensive months, the first ever ‘Hridaya TTC’ came to a successful end. All participants emerged more blissful then ever and they are now ready to impart their newly gained wisdom on future students of Meditation and Yoga.

In June, Antoaneta Gotea offered for the first time ever an ‘Introduction to Tantric Rituals’ workshop. This workshop proved to be a real gem and was very well received by all participants. Just one week later Swami Vivekananda Saraswati held the equally successful ‘Art of Dying’ workshop, with much sought after insights into an otherwise more or less ‘taboo’ topic in contemporary Western society.

Upcoming Workshops and Retreats

Even as we are coming to the end of this high-season, our calendar remains full of interesting events. From July 5-9 we offer the long awaited ‘Kashmiri Shaivism’ workshop, lead by Swami Vivekananda Saraswati. As we all know, Kashmiri Shaivism is the speciality of Swami and many students travel long distances, just to participate in these teachings about this almost extinct form of eastern philosophy. Next on the calendar is ‘Naturopathic and Yogic Healing’ from July 11-15, presented by Dr. Mihaiela Pentiuc. Mihaiela or simply Miha, as we lovingly call her, has become indispensable at Agama Yoga when it comes to the questions of health and purification. Her open minded approach includes all varieties of alternative healing, such as Homeopathy, Acupuncture and Ayurveda, just to name a few.

Our regular Tantra workshops will continue with Tantra I from August 15-19 and Tantra II from September 12-16. Both will be lead by advanced teachers of Agama Yoga.

On the retreat side we will finalize this very successful Hridaya season with an ‘Advanced Hridaya Retreat’, which will be held from July 22 - August 7. Of course it is also possible to just attend the first 10 days of this 17-day retreat, lead by Sahajananda.

International Teaching Tours

As already announced in the last newsletter, Swami Vivekananda and Sahajananda will be touring Canada and the United States in September and October, offering workshops and retreats. Swami will offer six workshops in four Canadian cities, and one also in Hawaii. Sahajananda will hold retreats in five Canadian locations, plus Scotland, Switzerland, and Romania on his return to Europe. Check the online international calendar and Swami Vivekananda's or Sahajananda's tour schedules for more information.

Donations

In an ongoing effort to support the children of the local Thai school, situated at the Srithanu temple very close to our Srithanu campus, Agama Yoga School is happy to announce that we were able to donate 19,615 baht to the director of the school. 10,000 baht came from Agama Yoga and the rest was donated by our students! The donation was handed over at the Final Ceremony at the beginning of June, which saw the children of the Thai school performing traditional music, especially for us.

2012

The coming year will not only see the end of the Mayan calendar, but even more importantly, a new Agama Yoga calendar, again filled with interesting workshops, retreats and TTC’s.

Some new events to mention include ‘Science and Yoga’ by Dr. Mihaiela Pentiuc, in which she will tell us how the effects of Yoga can be explained scientifically, and new retreats like the ‘Serpent Power Retreat’, which works with methods of Kundalini, and ‘ShivaShakti Retreat’, which works with both aspects of the manifestation, namely Pure Consciousness and Energy. ‘ShivaShakti’ will be held by Manu Mougenot and ‘Serpent Power’ by Michael Dunn. Both Manu and Michael are well respected senior Agama Yoga teachers and we are all already very much looking forward to these new retreats. Details about these new workshops and retreats will soon appear on our website.

In the last weeks the school’s policies have been reviewed by the management of Agama Yoga and the new policies for 2012 can be found here. Please read these policies thoroughly if you want to be up to date with all the necessary changes and additions.

Also the offered courses 2012 can now be found online. Please make sure that your course will be offered before you come to the island. If you need to catch up with either level 7 or 10 in December, please reserve your space now, as we will only offer these levels at a minimum attendance of 4 students. The deadline to reserve your space for these two levels will be August 18th.

Next season we will again offer two Agama TTC’s. The first will start on January 9 and the second on May 28. Make sure to reserve your space early enough, as there are only limited places available. If you yourself are not interested in becoming a teacher, please let your friends and family know about this unique and life-changing opportunity!

All Shaktis will be pleased to hear that the ‘Mystical Dance TTC’ will again be offered next season. Please contact mysticaldance@agamayoga.com for details. This MDTTC will again start with a 6-day ‘Mystical Dance 1’ workshop, but this time the space is limited to only 10 participants! So please make sure to sign up as soon as possible, otherwise you will be disappointed.

As you can see, Agama Yoga is ever expanding and growing from year to year. This makes a thorough organization indispensable. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity, as the General Manager of Agama Yoga, to thank my managers, the staff and all the Karma Yogis for their continuous efforts and support to make this community grow and prosper! Last but not least, all of this is only possible because of YOU, our dear students!

Love and blessings,
Rainer Gasser
