AGAMA YOGA'S APRIL NEWSLETTER

Joyful greetings to you on this day of the Orthodox Easter celebrations! Swami Vivekananda and Mihaiela are in the beautiful desert oasis of Jerusalem right now for this very special occasion, on a weekend away from a series of well attended but nonstop workshops and intensive teachings in Tel Aviv (these teachings continue in the upcoming week; next weekend they will be teaching in Istanbul). On this day of peace, may we all be inspired to keep our aspirations set ever higher in our lives.

This month was quieter than last, and we were not necessarily unhappy about that. However, the month did start off big as nearly 80 people turned out for Tantra 1 in the first week of April, which set record attendance for this event. It was an excellent workshop - Swami was really on fire....

The following week we celebrated the Thai New Year with a Songkran Water Party at Daylight Resort! Daylight is the gorgeous lakeside home of our new Yoga hall, just next to Bovy – in fact, we’ve invited senior student Yogesh to come and open the restaurant there. So we hope to see the Agama yogi kitchen open yet this season!

For those of you who maybe haven’t been to Thailand, Songkran is a day when people douse water over any bystander, willing or not (in fact, a lot of people just stay home on this day!). It is all in good fun, and in this spirit, we tossed water balloons at each other (and eventually just a lot of water), made a water slide, sent candle boats on the lake, built a big bonfire, and the mystical belly dancing Shaktis contributed another beautiful feature performance to the party. To top off the night: a “wet bum” contest (Shivas only) was held, MC’d by the colorful Kerry, who set the men off to do their best bum wiggling in wet shorts. The winner, as judged by the cheers of Shaktis in the audience, received a five-Shakti massage. The party was so much fun, and continued with live DJ and dancing til after midnight…

We also this week came together for our (so far) annual Divine Dinner, a community potluck held at Ananda Restaurant. This was also a festive and happy evening, with some people dressing up in a food theme, and prizes awarded for all the offerings in various categories.

Our monthly Revelation of the Spiritual Heart Retreat is in progress now, and with it 34 of our students and teachers are in silence and meditation. Claudiu Trandafir will again lead this retreat in the months of May, June, and July. This is a very special and unique retreat, intended to reproduce solitude and to further the inner discovery of the divine Self, atman. Please join us if you have the opportunity this season.

Looking ahead to May, we welcome you to join us for these workshops:

29 April-3 May: Tantra 2, led by Moses, Khushru, and Justine
7-11 May: Parapsychology 2, led by Eugen Birgaoanu with assistance from Swami Vivekananda
12-16 May: Tibetan Yoga, led by Swami Vivekananda
19-23 May: Vira Training, led by Swami Vivekananda
