AGAMA YOGA JULY NEWSLETTER |
July 2007 Welcome to the mid-summer Agama news. We have many exciting announcements to make! Moses, Silvia, Ania, and Gabriella are heading up teachings at our center on Koh Phangan, which offers course levels 1, 2, and 3 continuously. In addition, we are introducing monthly meditation retreats to Agama's repertoire. From 18-24 August, we will hold a Revelation of the Self Retreat, which was enormously successful in May. This retreat, focusing on non-dualistic teachings and deep meditation practice, will be held monthly beginning on the 18th of each month (except December, when we hold the New Year's Retreat), in either seven- or 10-day formats, including once this coming autumn in Rishikesh, India. Claudiu Trandafir, a longtime colleague of Swami Vivekananda's and the retreat leader, is a master of this method and the path of Self-realization through the Heart. In August, Agama will open a new center in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand! Teachers Debora, Elly, Kristoff, and Tomer have gone to prepare the new school for its 20 August opening. The school will teach on the same programming schedule as Koh Phangan, months 1, 2, and 3 (although 2 and 3 will not be introduced until September and October, respectively). The founding of this center was made possible by a very generous donation from one of our First Month students! We are very thankful for this opportunity to expand our teachings. Also in world news next month: 3-6 August, senior teacher Monika will be teaching a four-day Agama Yoga introductory workshop in Turkey at the OshoKUN Karakaya Meditation Camp, and she and Manu will follow up with a 10-day Agama intensive, 7-16 August; see http://www.oshokun.com/karakaya/english/ for details. Monika will continue to teach Yoga in Turkey through August (as well as - attention all shaktis! - a Mystical Belly Dance workshop), and will help establish Agama Yoga - Istanbul, a new center opening at the end of summer! Manu and teacher Laura will join Monika to kick off this new center. And last but not least in August news, Swami Vivekananda and Mihaiela will travel to Bristol, England, 21-26 August to teach at our new Agama Yoga UK center headed by James. Swami will give evening lectures and hold a Tantra Workshop, while Mihaiela will give a one-day Complete Femininity seminar. See www.uk.agamayoga.com for complete details. In other news of the Bristol center, James has introduced a study of the yamas and niyamas to the Wednesday weekly drop-in classes, and the students keep journals during the week. The process is beautifully strengthening the collective soul of the group. Last but not least around the world, Lilian is teaching daily classes in Amsterdam (see www.agamayoga.nl for details) and Maureen is teaching classes in Ottawa, Canada - including the first Agama class for seniors! Contact agamacanada@hotmail.com. Supported meditations in the upcoming month will be held 22:00-23.00 29 July and 22:00-23:00 28 August - Swami's birthday :-) - on full moon observances, and 23:00-24:00 12 August - Claudiu's birthday :-) - to commemorate Shivaratri. Swami's 2007 North American Tour is pulling together well! A few events are still left to settle, but the schedule is up at: http://www.agamayoga.com/tours/2007.htm. With some workshops already sold out or half full, the event organization is much more solid this year, and we expect to reach even more people with the unique teachings of Agama Yoga. Hopefully, Swami will not have as many books to buy this time around, having shipped home a hundred or more kilos for the school library last year! We hope that as our Yoga community grows, we may inspire each other to discover our divine selves daily and to continually aspire to live the highest life possible. Love and many blessings, Lori for all of us at Agama Yoga |
