AGAMA YOGA APRIL NEWSLETTER

April 2007
Happy Shivaratri!
Last night, on the night of Shiva, we held a vigil until dawn, with meditations led by Swami Vivekananda, to welcome this new lunar cycle. We're also obliged to wish you happy holidays from Thailand, where this past weekend Thais and foreigners alike marked the Thai New Year with the famous (or infamous) water festival, a very wet celebration! center by the sea.

We are in the midst of one of our best seasons ever on Koh Phangan. As Swami said in March, we seem to be sailing in the right direction....

The last month has been momentous. First of all, 25 vibrant Yoga enthusiasts officially became the newest Agama instructors at our annual Teacher Training Course graduation. With nearly 60 people receiving certificates during this one evening, it was the largest (and longest - stretching until 1 am!) final ceremony ever, marked by many great performances and shared presentations. We held an excellent Yang Spiral meditation the following day, and the day after that Swami began teaching our spring five-day Tantra 1 Workshop, also to the largest group ever (more than 70 people attended!). So we have not been bored here. :-)

Last weekend, Kerry organized a very beautiful 24-hour prayer, held in a relay style for those who could not take part in the entire event and overlapping so harmoniously with our three commemorative Easter meditations, which were especially powerful this year. It was a very special way to mark the holiday weekend.

After all of this, last week as a cap to the Tantra Workshop, we held a Transfiguration Party, at which the shaktis gave a charming dance performance, everyone socialized, and there were games and meditations on top of music and dancing. We will start to hold parties once per month, in order to facilitate healthy svadhisthanistic socializing. This is a tantric school, after all!

The big news of the week is that Swami will next weekend travel to New Zealand, where he will give a two-day Art of Dying Workshop in the Takaka/Parapara area (24-25 April), followed by a Tantra Weekend Workshop in Christchurch 27-29 April. Please join us if you are there and tell your friends! Swami will be hosted on his visit by Agama teachers Beatrice and Alexis, who have moved to New Zealand and made efforts to open an Agama center there. For more information and details, contact newzealand@agamayoga.com.

The day after Swami returns to Thailand he will start teaching the newest workshop of his repertoire, Yogic Chiropractic, which we are all looking forward to very much.

In news around the world, Agama Rishikesh has extended its season by another month, until 18 May, Agama Dharamsala just opened a week ago, and the new Agama UK center is regularly holding Agama Yoga workshops, and other teachings as possible by request. Courses are ongoing in Thessaloniki, Greece, as well as in Tel Aviv. Join us whenever and wherever you can! And of course, tell your friends who may be in these areas. Advanced courses may be held here in Thailand during our usual low season (we are now open year-round since 2006). Check Calendar for updates as they are announced.

Until next time, we wish you abundant blessings for love and spiritual wealth, plus many opportunities for good practice.
