AGAMA YOGA UK

Agama Yoga provides a traditional and genuine approach to the ancient Yoga system of India and Tibet. The heart of the Tantric system of Yoga and spirituality is learning awareness and control of the energies of nature and the chakras, or centers of force in the human being.

Agama’s aim is to offer a comprehensive package including practical Hatha Yoga, purification techniques, meditation, pranayama, and lectures on relevant topics to offer the necessary theoretical background for understanding the practice of such a multifaceted, ancient discipline.

Agama UK classes are taught by Ania Paradowska, the senior teacher on location, and Silvia Michielon, both of whom have years of experience teaching within this system. Both are enthusiastic and supportive teachers who take great interest in and demonstrate heartfelt care for their students. Ania and Silvia are delighted to offer a Yoga course based on the fundamentals of our First Month Intensive every Thursday evening at 18:30. Classes are two hours in length and may be joined on a drop-in basis.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF AGAMA YOGA UK

In 2006, teacher James Chard had a dream: to create a branch of Agama Yoga in the UK. His vision was to create a link, a point of reference for new Yoga aspirants interested in authentic Tantric Yoga, as well as for students who had previously joined courses led by Swami Vivekananda Saraswati at the Agama headquarters in Koh Phangan, Thailand, or in Rishikesh, India. James was quick to set up classes and workshops and soon he was hosting a well considered, practical, and accessible Yoga curriculum at the Pierian Centre in Bristol. Classes followed the program as taught at Agama headquarters in Thailand, although were tailored for people working full-time in England.

He also coordinated an introductory Tantra 1 Workshop, taught by Swami Vivekananda in August of 2007, which was attended by many and acclaimed as a great success.

James has temporarily discontinued teaching as his own higher education pursuits forced him to move away from Bristol. Ania and Silvia have dedicated themselves to continuing on with the Agama teachings where James left off.
