GETTING TO CHIANG MAI
The train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai takes approximately 12 hours and costs 700 Baht (€17).
The fastest bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai takes 10 hours and costs 550 Baht (€13.50). For
bus transport, both the price and duration vary according to the class of the vehicle.
Avoid travel agencies on Khao San Road (in Bangkok) that offer trips to Chiang Mai with a free
night's accommodation on arrival. Often the free night is in a guest house that will ask you to
sign up for a trekking excursion as soon as you arrive… and if you don't wish to go, the
guest house may suddenly be full.
Air Asia offers flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai that start at 1,060 Baht (€26); check
www.airasia.com for details and further information. The earlier you book the less you pay.
FINDING AGAMA - CHIANG MAI
The school is located in the center of the muang (see map). From Tapae Gate head in the
direction of Wat Phra Singh along Ratchadamnoen Road until you reach Soi 6. Then turn right,
walk for 50 meters, and you will find Agama.
