Visit trika.agamayoga.com for more detailed information. Welcome to Trika Yoga in Rishikesh! Agama - Rishikesh teaches the classic program from the beginners' First Level Intensive Course through the Course Level 3. From there, we encourage our students to continue their studies under the direct guidance of Swami Vivekananda in Thailand. Students may join Trika's First Level Intensive Course at any time, and may repeat any days at no extra charge. Agama's Yoga training programs are registered with both Yoga Alliance and the International Yoga Federation. Indian Khushru Mistry, who has been teaching since 2002, leads teachings at the Agama branch in Rishikesh, the Himalayan holy town once home to the great Swami Sivananda, as well as other revered and beloved yogis. The course is taught in Swargashram, Ram Jhoola (Ram Bridge, the first bridge just past the taxi stand), Rishikesh. Students may join Trika's First Level Intensive Course at any time, and may repeat any days at no extra charge. Please note that Trika does not host any Yoga teacher training program; Agama Yoga's annual teacher training programs - two 12-week courses, one in winter, one in summer, and each with a maximum of 24 students - both take place on Koh Phangan island in Southern Thailand. From Dehli: You can go to any travel agent in Pahar Ganj (opposite the New Delhi Railway Station) and they will help you book a train. You want to take a train from New Delhi to Hardiwar, which usually costs Rs 200-400. Be aware of when your stop is coming up; talk to the people on the train and ask for their help locating your stop. Haridwar is not the train's final stop. From Hardiwar: To reach Rishikesh, you can take: 1) a local bus (Rs 20 maximum), which will take you to Rishikesh and then a rickshaw (approximately Rs 30) to Ram Jhoola; or 2) an auto rickshaw (Rs 150-250 for a private ride), which takes approximately one hour directly to Ram Jhoola; 3) a private taxi may cost up to Rs 300 for the same ride directly to Ram Jhoola. We do not recommend that you take a bus from Delhi directly to Rishikesh - it's simply a long, unpleasant ride. However, if you do wish to travel in this way, it will cost you anywhere from Rs 200-250. To find us, cross the Ram Jhoola Bridge into Swargashram. Bear immediately right and then left. Walk straight and you will pass by the famous restaurant Chotiwalla on your left. Continue up the twisting sloped path into a large open yard, and Swargashram Gaddi Hall will be right in front of you. We are there every day except Sunday, holding course level 1 classes from 8:30-10:30, 16:00-18:00, and 19:30-20:30. Course levels 2 and 3 are held in the afternoons. We look forward to seeing you soon! Cost
The minimum donation is Rs 350 per day (approximately $5). Should you have any financial difficulties in meeting these costs, please discuss your circumstances with your teacher. Accommodation
There are many places to stay in the Ram Jhoola area. Many of the students choose to stay in various guesthouses within five minutes' walk of the Yoga hall. There are rooms directly across from the Yoga hall, as well as five minutes' walk east toward Laxman Jhoola and five minutes' walk west toward accommodation overlooking the Ganges River). Any teacher can help direct you when you arrive. Rooms range within Rs 150-400 (most cost Rs 150-200 per day). Some have a space for a kitchen setup, but you must supply the kitchenware. Other places have a communal kitchen and refrigerator (such as Sudesh Guesthouse and Ananda, next door to Shiva Resort); other places are simply just rooms. Most places have a hot shower, though it is always good to check. Food
If you eat out: You can eat thali for Rs 30 or the average cost for a meal is Rs 70-100. If you cook for yourself it's much cheaper, probably about Rs 30 per meal. For more information please email: rishikesh@agamayoga.com. |
